FAQ

What's an average therapy session like?

If there's a particular event or focus you'd like to explore, we can start there. During the first few sessions, some questions I like to explore are, "where are you at now", and "what brought you here?". For example, what was modelled for you in the household you grew up in? How do you tend to relate to others? What's your relationship to grief, conflict, or anger like? From here, more questions and areas of focus can emerge.

The therapists at our clinic have warm, collaborative, curious, and compassionate therapy styles. We can provide structured conversation, but are similarly happy to explore and meander. Art-making can be woven into sessions as well, as images are simply another language we can use to support ongoing reflection.

Is your office building/space accessible? What COVID precautions do you take for in-person sessions?

229 Yonge St. is accessible from the street-level sidewalk, and equipped with elevators from the ground floor to our office space. Our office is a private room within the Regus offices on the 4th floor. The door to our office does not yet have an accessible entryway, though I am happy to assist folks who use walking aids or wheelchairs navigate this doorway.

Everyone that uses my office (student therapists, clients, etc.) are required to be at least 3x vaccinated, and are asked to wear masks during in-person sessions. This is to ensure community care for everyone. Our office is also equipped with a HEPA filter.

Staff and other renters at the Regus office may/may not wear masks at their own discretion.

Do you offer video/telephone counselling?

Yes! All sessions can be offered virtually. Sessions are conducted via Jane– a secure, remote video and audio conferencing tool.

What payment options do you accept? Do you accept insurance or direct billing?

Our preferred way of payment is by credit card, which can be added to your Jane profile. We also accept e-transfers, to [email protected]

We do not offer direct billing. Most insurance plans cover Registered Psychotherapists. Please check with your insurance plan to see if they cover RP's– if so, after the payment has been received, you'll be sent a receipt which you can submit to your insurance (after which you'll be reimbursed according to your plan).
